Product description

A peaceful, schooling fish with a sturdy body and pointed head, displaying a golden base color highlighted by a striking blue stripe along its length and contrasting orange fins. Males are more vibrantly colored and slimmer; females are plumper.

Care Guidelines:

  • Tank Setup: Minimum ~38 L (~10 gallons); provide dense planting, driftwood, and a dark substrate to enhance coloration. Ensure secure lid—these little swimmers can be jumpy.

  • Water Parameters:

    • Temperature: 22–27 °C (72–80 °F)

    • pH: 6.0–7.5

    • Hardness: 2–12 dGH (soft to moderately soft)

    • Flow: Gentle filtration mimicking still forest streams

  • Diet: Omnivorous—accepts good-quality flakes or pellets, supplemented with live or frozen treats like daphnia, bloodworms, brine shrimp.

  • Behavior & Tankmates: Peaceful and best kept in schools of 8–10 or more to come into full color and confidence. Suitable for community setups with other small, peaceful species.Breeding: Egg scatterer; voluntary spawning may occur in mature, well-planted tanks. Adults should be removed to avoid egg predation. Fry hatch in ~24–48 hours, then fed infusoria progressing to baby brine shrimp.
