Overview

Known as Moonrise Pink Tetra, this variant is either a genetically modified White Skirt Tetra or Black Skirt Tetra (Gymnocorymbus ternetzi), bio-engineered to glow in a vibrant pink neon hue. The fluorescent coloration is highly visible under blue or actinic lighting.
 

Size

Reaches approximately 2.4–2.5 inches (≈ 6 cm) at maturity.
 

Behavior & Social Needs

These are peaceful schooling fish, ideal for community tanks. Should be kept in groups of 6 or more to encourage natural behavior and prevent fin-nipping.
 

Tank Conditions

• Tank Size: Minimum 10 gallons for a small group; 15–20 gallons preferred for more space.
   

• Temperature: 72–82 °F (22–28 °C).
   

• pH & Hardness: pH 6.0–7.5, moderate hardness (KH 4–8).
   

• Decor & Lighting: Dense or floating plants, dark substrate, and diffused lighting help showcase their pink glow and offer security.
   

Diet

Omnivorous—feed a balanced diet of flakes or pellets, supplemented with live/frozen foods like brine shrimp or bloodworms for optimal color and health.
 

Lifespan & Hardiness

Typically hardy and beginner-friendly, with a lifespan of around 3–5 years, and up to 5–7 years in optimal conditions.
