🌌 Appearance

The L240 Galaxy Vampire Pleco is renowned for its striking appearance:

  • Body Color: Dark black to deep brown

  • Pattern: Covered in small, bright white spots resembling a starry night sky

  • Body Shape: Slightly flattened with a broad head and large pectoral fins

  • Distinctive Features: Possesses sharp, tooth-like structures, hence the "Vampire" moniker

🏠 Habitat & Tank Setup

To replicate their natural environment:

  • Tank Size: Minimum of 40–75 gallons (150–280 liters)

  • Substrate: Fine sand or smooth gravel

  • Decor: Plenty of hiding spots using driftwood, caves, and rocks

  • Water Parameters:

    • Temperature: 22–28°C (72–82°F)

    • pH: 5.6–7.0 (slightly acidic preferred)

    • Hardness: 8–12 dKH

  • Filtration: Strong filtration with high oxygenation; consider using powerheads or large airstones

🍽️ Diet & Feeding

The L240 Galaxy Vampire Pleco is primarily carnivorous but will accept a variety of foods:

  • Primary Diet: Protein-rich foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and market shrimp

  • Supplementary Foods: High-quality sinking pellets, insect meal granules, and occasional vegetable matter like blanched zucchini or cucumber

  • Feeding Tips: Offer food after lights out, as these plecos are nocturnal feeders

🧠 Behavior & Compatibility

  • Activity: Nocturnal; hides during the day and becomes active at night

  • Social Behavior: Generally peaceful but may become territorial with age, especially towards other bottom-dwelling fish

  • Tankmates: Suitable for large community tanks with other peaceful to semi-aggressive large fish. Avoid housing with overly aggressive species or other plecos that may compete for hiding spots
