The Lapis Tetra (Hyphessobrycon cyanotaenia) is renowned for its distinctive coloration and peaceful nature. It features a broad, iridescent blue stripe running from the snout to the middle of the caudal fin, complemented by a dark mid-lateral stripe. Males are typically more vibrant, displaying a brighter blue hue, while females tend to have a more subdued coloration.Β
Size: Males reach up to 3.3 cm, and females up to 2.8 cm.Β
Temperament: Peaceful and active; best kept in schools of at least 10 individuals to promote natural behavior and reduce skittishness.
Habitat: Prefers aquariums with plenty of aquatic plants, open swimming spaces, and subdued lighting or shade. Using a dark substrate will enhance their beautiful coloration.
