Tank Size & Environment

  • Minimum tank size: 10 gallons for a pair; 15 gallons recommended for a small group.

  • Substrate: Dark-colored sand or fine gravel to enhance their colors.

  • Decor: Provide dense plants, driftwood, and rocks. Floating plants are helpful for cover and security.

  • Water Parameters: Temperature 22–27°C (72–80°F), pH 6.0–7.8, soft to moderately hard water.

Behavior & Tankmates

  • Peaceful species, compatible with other small, non-aggressive fish.

  • Best kept in pairs or small groups of 6–8.

  • Males display brighter colors and will guard flat surfaces for spawning.

Diet

  • Omnivorous.
