Care Instructions (Wild-Inspired Guidance)

  • Tank Size: Minimum 75 L (20 gal), larger preferred to accommodate its size and allow natural swimming space.

  • Water Conditions:

    • Temperature: Subtropical — likely 18–24 °C (65–75 °F)

    • pH: Neutral to slightly alkaline (≈7.0–8.0)

    • Hardness: Soft to moderately hard

  • Setup: A river-mimicking aquascape with fine gravel or sand, gentle flow, and some current-friendly décor (rocks or driftwood).

  • Diet: As a gudgeon, expect it to be a benthic omnivore; a diet of sinking pellets, live/frozen invertebrates, and algae wafers is appropriate.

  • Behavior & Compatibility: Likely a peaceful bottom-dwelling fish; small groups or community setups with mid-water species should work.

  • Maintenance: Prioritize clean, well-filtered water and steady conditions to support natural behavior in a captive environment.
