Care Instructions

• Tank conditions: Provide a clean, well-oxygenated aquarium with gentle flow and plenty of plants or fine-gravel substrate—mimicking their natural stream habitat 

• Water quality: Maintain clear, cool water—these fish are sensitive to poor water conditions.

• Diet: Offer a varied diet of finely crushed flake food, spirulina-based flakes, frozen brine shrimp, and micro-invertebrates. In the wild, they forage on algae, diatoms, and small invertebrates 

• Acclimation: When introducing them to a new tank, avoid rapid temperature changes. Let the container sit at room temperature before slowly acclimating to tank water—this helps preserve oxygen levels and reduces stress 

• Behavior: Best kept in groups—they exhibit unique breeding behaviors, often spawning in filamentous algae masses during spring
